Music keeps me calm and relaxed
Everyone has his/her own way to calm down and relax when things are getting too stressy or tensed up. I have mine by listening to music or playing along some songs on my guitar. Now, I respect everyone’s own taste of music, although I strongly despise some types and genres. My own taste varies from regular rock to melodic death metal. I’ve been into it ever since the 3rd form in highschool and it’s not gotten out of me ever since. The brutal guitars and vocals give me an energy boost every time I listen to it. But not just the grinding riffs and solos but the melodic and harmonic parts sooth me as well. It’s not all about shredding, melody and good built songs are more satisfying at times. I’ve been listening to Roadrunner United a lot for a while now, a dear friend recommended them and I was instantly hooked. What this record label has achieved is yet again proof that it doesn’t matter who or how you are, when you meet up with your instrument you can bond instantly and start jamming.
As for myself, I’ve been playing guitar for little over 2 years (of which only 1 year really focusing on it, the first year was just picking it up and shredding, no technique practice involved at all. I kind of feel guilty for that now). The thing is that metal has so much subgenres and categories, I really have way too much music to listen to at once. I’ve got times I listen to 1 band only and nothing else, and then again I’ve got days where I just put my playlist on random/shuffle and enjoy every song that comes bursting out of my speakers/headphones.
Time to relax on some In Flames now..
